Thermoplastic Preheater Safety Instructions

When using the thermoplastic paint pre-melter, it is important to follow basic safety precautions to avoid the risk of fire or personal injury:

  • Read and understand all instructions.
  • Follow instructions for operation.
  • Do not use flammable or explosive materials within two meters of the machine during operation.
  • Before using the machine, check the liquefied gas pipeline connection for leaks and ensure it is secure.
  • For safety, operators must wear protective gear to avoid burns.
  • To protect operator health, install a chimney.
  • To avoid damaging the hydraulic system, shift gears slowly before accelerating.
  • Regularly check the furnace tube for blockages to ensure complete combustion.

The equipment is hydraulically driven and has step-less speed regulation. It features high-efficiency fusion, reversible mixing, even seasoning, and easy operation and maintenance. The specially designed heating system is made of all stainless steel and high carbon steel stamping arc pots, and uses imported high-efficiency furnaces, saving time and effort.

Operation Overview

First, pour some paint into the preheater and heat it until it melts. When the temperature reaches 180-200 ℃, start the mixer to stir and continue to add new paint until it flows in waves. When the internal temperature reaches 190-210 ℃ and the paint is in a fully flowing state, discharge the liquid paint through the discharge port into the road marking machine for marking work.

Operation

Preparation before inspection and use:

  1. Preparations before starting the diesel engine: detailed operations for adding diesel, engine oil, and cooling water can be found in the instruction manual.
  2. Add No. 40 or 50-1 viscous hydraulic oil to the hydraulic oil tank.
  3. Remove debris from the kettle for the first use and carefully check whether the rotating parts are flexible.
  4. Install the burner on the stove and check whether the gas tank, appliance, pipeline, etc. are intact and leak-free.
  5. Install an exhaust port on the feeding door of the preheater and fix it with screws.
  6. To protect the operator’s health and ensure sufficient combustion, install a hot air chimney before use.
  7. Operators should wear protective gear to avoid burns.

Thermoplastic Pre-melter Operating Procedure

  1. Place the paint into the preheater.
  2. First, open the preheater inlet door, then place the paint into the barrel, putting 2-3 bags in each barrel.
  3. Ignite the torch and insert it into the furnace. Open the gas tank valve and then open the burner valve to ignite the furnace. Valves 1, 2, 3, and 4 control the first, second, third, and fourth fire rings respectively. During the operation process, only open the third and fourth rings and close the first and second rings to save heat. Ensure that there is no paint sticking to the bottom to avoid affecting the quality of the marking.
    The kneader temperature should not exceed 220℃. When using imported furnaces (four fire rings), only three fire rings should be used. If rapid heating is required for a short time, all four fire rings can be fully opened.

Start the diesel engine

Before starting the diesel engine, adjust the two hydraulic operation handle plates to the middle position. (1) Refer to the “Diesel Engine User Manual” for starting the diesel engine. (2) Set up the electric start switch in front of the diesel engine hood. During construction, the wire can be connected to the car battery positive pole, and the diesel engine can be started by pressing the switch.

Stir and then add the material

(1) Observe the thermometer. When the temperature reaches 180℃, all the paint gradually melts. Pull the hydraulic operation lever to the forward stirring position and start stirring clockwise in the barrel.

Gear 1: Forward Stirring (Clockwise)

Neutral: Stop Stirring

Gear 2: Reverse Stirring (Counterclockwise)

The hydraulic system can be shifted from slow to fast for forward and reverse stirring.

(2) Put one bag of paint into the cylinder, gradually add the new paint after it melts, and fill it up.

When feeding into the preheater, consider the stirring power. If the paint is lumpy, it should be crushed before feeding. For the same construction project and the same type of paint, the melt viscosity should be consistent to facilitate the control of the operating conditions. Avoid heating the paint for a long time at high temperatures to prevent the paint from discoloring and cracking.

(3) Control the firepower by adjusting the burner valve to keep the indoor temperature at around 180℃ in summer and around 180-210℃ in winter.
(4) The stirring speed can be adjusted by adjusting the pressure. The working pressure should be controlled within 8Mpa.

Method: The working pressure can be adjusted by adjusting the adjusting screw of the relief valve. Clockwise rotation increases the pressure, while counterclockwise rotation decreases the pressure. (Note: It is already adjusted at the factory).

(5) Overload protection for discharging materials

Prepare the marking machine at the discharge port, lift the handle of the discharge door upwards, and open the discharge door. The paint flows into the marking machine through the discharge port. After the marking machine is filled with paint, select the unloading door.

(6) End of work

  • Stop the preheater stirring. Shift the hydraulic operation lever to neutral to stop the preheater stirring.
  • Stop the diesel engine.

(7) Maintenance

  • After using it for the first time for five days, all hydraulic oil in the hydraulic oil tank should be replaced. The second oil change should be done after one month.
  • Regularly check and clean the hydraulic oil tank filter.
  • The operator must be responsible, maintain the equipment regularly, and deal with hidden dangers promptly.
  • Maintenance of diesel engines.
